Deal or no Deal? Fry's 55" Flatscreen

First things first I may or may not have not found a deal. I am looking for help in trying to figure out the make of the 55" TV that Fry's is advertising today for $599 before I make the hour drive to the store. The ad states "Trusted name brand 55" Class Smart 4k UHD TV". Any one know ?

Just call the store and ask what brand.
Worked for me.

When Frys says "Trusted Name Brand" these days, they usually mean LG.

You may be correct, I don't know. But I was looking at a Samsung panel a couple weeks ago where it was the "Trusted..." brand model being featured in the Fry's ad.

I pretty much knew it before asking them to confirm the brand/model because I could identify the base in the ad photo. So, often that can be your tip off. If you recognize the different stands used by various models and brands, you can often narrow it down to the brand and sometimes even the specific model yourself.

I believe you can get a trusted brand 55" 4k at Costco for less than that, as well as their great return policy.

While I would certainly endorse Costco in terms of their superior return policy, don't necessarily sell Frys short when it comes to price. Granted, it's isolated, often restricted to a single day or two. But they've been known to offer better pricing than Costco under those specific limited date circumstances. For example, that Samsung model I was referring to before. Fry's had it for $800 for a 2-day period. Costco had it for $899.xx for their monthly ad. Which was as good of a price as any place was offering during that time frame. But Frys easily beat it on price within that 2-day window.

I'm not.

But if price is an issue, you can get 55 4k for quite a bit less at Costco, and likely elsewhere as well.

Don't mean to belabor a minor point, but I really don't follow.

First you state that you aren't selling Fry's short, re: deals. Then immediately proceed to state that you can get a 55" 4K for quite a bit less elsewhere.

My only point before was that Frys can at times beat everyone else on price so they're worth keeping in mind as a potential option, along with other retailers/etailers.

Right, sometimes they do have good deals, just saying that this isn't one of them.

Just trying to help the OP save some money.

I don't know all the legal details, but this phrase is used, when a manufacturer has an agreement with a vendor to not sell a product under a certain price. The re-seller (Fry's in this case), uses the term "Trusted Name Brand", to not break the agreement with the manufacturer, but is selling the product below the "agreed upon" lowest price.
