Hi ipca204,
Nice find, seems like it's currently in stock in San Diego.
How did you find out that this is in fact the x4500?

Link to this receiver is here:
http://www.frys.com/search?search_t...toreName=false
Copy/paste of the relevant text below:
Frys#9788994

Hi R Coen,
On Fry's web site, the description is a a very generic "Trusted Name Brand 9.2 AVR 235W max/ch HDMI"

I expect that "Trusted Name Brand" is Fry's way of selling items below MSRP, probably with the manufacturer's knowledge, that doesn't infringe on the standard pricing model.

If you do a search for "Trusted Name Brand" items, and then sort by Receivers, there is one for $1,199, maybe that is the X6500?
Description: "Trusted Name Brand 7.2AVR 110W Alexa BT WIFI Dolby Atmos,DTS:X 2 zone 4K/60p DolbyVision"
http://www.frys.com/product/9763094...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Or, based on the description, the Yamaha RX-A1080BL:
http://www.frys.com/product/9567022...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

If you do a search for all items, under "Trusted Name Brand", then there are currently 437 results, with cameras very clearly being Canon, if sorting by price: high to low:
http://www.frys.com/search?to=99&sq...type=regular&&

This would be an opportunity to find decent sales on other items, if it was possible to discern what the actual model number is of an item that is for sale.

Deal is super awesome because it allows for shipping, which is rare in a denon fry's deal. Usually they are "in store only" and that takes out a lot of buyers..

uh oh. Looks like I jinxed it. "in store only" now!

I guess it was dependent on when you got your order in. I know literally, of dozens of people, from another thread that had theirs shipped.
Frys is the worst for this stuff though..

I'm jealous of those who could pick this up in store! I had my online order canceled, just like they did for the 3500 that went on sale a few weeks ago. So frustrating dealing with Fry's online for shipping sometimes, but congrats to those who got in on this great deal. Fortunately my 4400 arrived today that I was able to snag with that recent eBay 15% off coupon, so I am glad I wasn't relying on this online deal.

Yesterday I saw this deal and confirmed the link to Fry's. But had to go for a medical procedure. By the time I got out the link no longer worked and searching for "trusted name brand" did not pull up the offer.

But early this morning the link was active again. I picked one up. There are two more physically in store in San Marcos California as of around 2:45PM today.

Hope this helps.

As a side note, this is a clever way to get around MAP restrictions. However, why? Wasn't this receiver just released in September? Is it due for early retirement? Are there issues with it? It also looks like AMZN lowered the price overnight to two hundred below MSRP.

As to the $1,200 link someone posted above, it isn't for the AVR-X6500H. It's for the Yamaha 1080. If it were for the Denon I would have sprung for that. Too bad.

Thanks to the OP for the head's-up. Good timing for us and our needs.

By definition 50% of people are below the median.

Saw the link to the deal yesterday. Clicked on it and it had the "well known receiver" for $1599. Tried the link this morning and got the $899 price for pickup only at a local store in the Dallas area. Ordered it and picked up a 4500H at noon. Saved me $250 off the price I paid at BB last month. That unit is being returned for a refund. Got lucky for once in my life.

Link is still good if anyone needs one:

Good luck returning your receiver to best buy. I had to fight hard to get them to take back a one week old panasonic 820, they are getting pretty hard to deal with

Closest store is 600 miles away.
So I just saved $900.

Did you really need to quote that entire post in your reply?

Thanks for the heads up. I reviewed their return policy. They should allow me to return it since it's new, still in the box and within the return window. If not successful, then I argue for them to match the Frys price.

Going to return it tonight. So I'll post whether I'm successful or not.

Their first response is store credit. You may have to talk to the store manager. I did.

They can offer. But no way I'll agree to a store credit. I don't need a BB $1297.00 credit. And that's not what their refund policy states for a return that I'm making.

I see the sale is now on until the 12th, store pickup or local delivery only. I'm an 1 1/2 from the nearest location, but I'm pretty tempted. Having never purchased from Fry's before

1) Has anyone ordered this only to NOT get a Denon X4500H when you went to pick it up?
2) How can they sell this unit so cheaply? A buddy of mine says it's less than the employee price at BB.

I don't care what HBO says, Stannis Baratheon is the one true king of Westeros!

I think if you give them the product code from the sale listing the x4500H comes up on their in-store computer.

By definition 50% of people are below the median.

I was wondering how they can sell them so cheap as well. I'd say, worth a 3 hour drive. Order then call and confirm the model before you drive to pick it up.

BB gave me a refund. I actually walked out with $215.00 more than what I paid back on 12/1. I even pointed out to them they were overpaying me. They acknowledge they were aware and said I most purchased the one I was returning for a great price. Not really. I paid $1199 plus tax ($1297) for the 4500H. But I did purchase a 3500H before the 4500H and got on for $781 when they priced matched Abt. So they credited my debit card $1515 and change. They were going to credit my BB credit card but I didn't have it with me. So they told me to use any card for the credit.

So with the $215 extra, my 4500H ended up costing me around $760.

Isn't the Marantz 7012 just a rebadged 4500H?

going from the specs, i would think it is the other way around as the 7012 came out over a year ago! I THOUGHT the 7012 was a japan made piece, but honestly don't remember at this point..

It took me 3 tries but I was finally able to get my order to go through, and I picked it up yesterday. And of course I noticed that today they've got my #2 choice, the Pioneer VSX-LX503, on sale for $559 with promo code.

What I meant, aren't they basically same except the brand name?

Different sonic signature. Marantz uses hdam in the audio circuit in the 7012. Denon has a different design.

Some say Marantz has a bit warmer sound or that it has a less harsh sound to it from the Denon counterparts.

Other people say they all sound the same - buy based on features and price.

HA HA same boat. I guess HT is my drug. It started with the vsx-lx103 for $299 a few weeks ago, then x3500 for $559 (missed it) then decided on the sc-lx502 for $399, it was in my cart but missed it by the time i got home from work. Then it was my 2nd favorite lx503 for $559 and now my dream receiver x4500h for $899. Its a little steep but seems to have so much more than what I started with (lx103). I am easily justifying the $600 but know deep down that my 5.1.2 living room setup doesn't need an x4500!

Good job pulling the trigger on it!
