Importing Mini DV Video to Mac is choppy and broken

When I import using component video wires into PC, everything is fine. When I watch videos, everything is fine. When I try to Import through firewire into my iMac, using any software, my clips are broken out into .4s videos and horribly choppy and broken up, and unwatchable. I've read there are probably timecode issues with old cameras, but I have not seen any solutions. Does anybody have a solution or work-around?

Computer: Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1
Adobe Premiere Pro CC2019, and Premiere Elements 2019, and iMovie 10.1.10
Camera: Sony DCR-PC5
Connection: DV-Firewire > Firewire 9-pin adapter > Thunderbolt adapter
