What should I do to play 4K from those services

Thanks

What a bumber, I thought 4K supported AVR is enough.

How could I get the sound to receiver if I plug directly to the OCB?

SEK- 3500U/ZA and Reciever passthrough?

Can I connect my Blu-Ray (Samsung BDP-8500) and laptop to my receiver (Pioneer VSX-LX102) and have it passthrough to the Samsung SEK-3500U/ZA Evolution Kit - then to my TV? (Samsung UN65HU8550)

What is the best way to connect all my devices?

EEPROM wipe sek-3500 , I picked up a “returned” 3500u/xs which had previously been used on a different generation tv so was locked. After much experimentation I opened the box and took out the circuit board. eEPROM was easy to
Locate on back. I did a non standard wipe ( shorted pins 5+6 ) , power on for 2 mins , power off and restart. This reset it back to factory. I’ve got a /za version coming that is non functional , will try the same technique and see if I can get it to work and then explore exact differences between the XS ( Australian ) and ZA ( USA)

Since you have no info under your avatar, you are located where? NA SEK-3500U will NOT work on European sets.
Check the underside of the OCB for a 2.5" sticker stating the unit is a SEK-3500U. No such sticker, but a white one containing a BN # - this is a JS series OCB.

I’m in the Middle East , will update my profile shortly. My TV model is a UA55F9000. The OCB has the 2.5” sticker and says SEK-3500/XS. The OCB I managed to obtain didn’t have the composite cable and the fan is noisy so I picked up a very cheap /ZA OCB from US for parts. I was going to try the same EEPROM reset on it and see what happens , you mention it doesn’t work , what happens ? Thx

Hello, new here so please bear with me.

I have a UN55F9000 that has never seen an upgrade kit (I bought original under the same belief on the upgrades). I can't seem to find the SEK-3500u/za ANYWHERE besides eBay, and the guy is being a pill about the price because "there's only a couple left". I did find another, and I asked them if they'd take $350.

I really don't want to get a new TV if I can help it, nor do I want to get an HDCP converter box either. $400-$450 seems steep for the 3500, when most new TVs are about $750 for decent mid range with HDR. If anyone here can assist in finding me a 3500, please do!

I'm very late to the bandwagon and only just managed to pick up a SEK-3500 unit now. Everything seems set up correctly on my HU8550, except for one thing.

This is probably super simple, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to access the Picture>Advanced Settings menu for any of my inputs. It's greyed out, which means I can't access any of the Color Space/Dynamic Contrast options like I could before the upgrade. It's the same for every input, and changing the device type or even the UHD color option doesn't enable that menu.

Anyone have experience with this and can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Movie Mode still the best, but some prefer Standard, which is limited in calibrating potential, and usually corrupts the PQ anyways. (But some like it like that.)

I'm definitely liking Movie mode better after spending some time tweaking settings per this thread. Standard is OK. I'm using that to watch regular HD and TV content, and when I need a little more contrast and brightness for HDR content, I switch over to Movie. Seems to work well, even on the HU8550. Thanks for confirming!

So far, Samsung has been of no help, Best Buy won't even get back to me, and the source on eBay wants the price of a new TV for the 3500. I'm stuck.

Suggestions on a path forward without buying a new TV?

If you're wanting better HDR, you need to get a new set that is at least a minimum of 650 Nits for HDR. The F9000 + SEK-3500U won't get you past 350 Nits at best. Prices have come down a lot. I bought my 2 kids for Christmas the Samsung NU8000 since there's gamers in both households, elsewise the Sony 900F.

I ended up getting a Sony X900F last night. A friend immediately said he'd buy the F9000 to use as a 1080p gaming monitor.

The X900 is reminding me when CRTs used to get that bright.
