Wisconsin Area Home Theater Meet Thread

If you are interested in meeting others from the Wisconsin area that share a similar passion or even if you are willing to showing off your Home Theater to others in the WI area this is the place to be!

Typically there are some here at AVSForum that can offer advice and expertise in Home Theater Builds/Equipment/Setup if you are looking for that as well.

Feel free to post your systems here.

Here is my current but ever evolving system configuration:

Projector: JVC DILA-NX7
Screen: Seymour AV - Center Stage XD 150" wide 2.35:1
Speakers: JTR 212HTR 2015 Model (L/C/R), JTR 212HT 2015 model (Wides), JTR Slanted 8HT's (Surrounds), JTR Slanted 8HT's (Rears), JTR Slanted 8HT-LP's (ATMOS/DTS X)
Subs: 2 X JTR Captivator 4000ULF
Transducers: Crowson Technology Level 3 Motion System - Four Shadow-8 Actuators with a D-501 Amplifier
Electronics: Marantz AV8805, Emotiva XPA-3 Gen 3, Emotiva XPA-11 Gen 3, Oppo UDP-203, Synology DS1512+ (15TB)
Calibration Equipment: AEMC CA811 Digital Light Meter, iOne Pro, iOne Display 3, Chroma Pure, Microsoft Surface Pro 64GB
Philips Hues Lighting System 10 X Philips Hue BR30 Connected Downlight Lamps

Sometimes with these types of meets, I know there is always that little voice in the back of your head asking who is safe to meet up with and who can we trust. So I can start a list of the people I have personally meet and had positive interactions with.

No worries. I've been building up over the last 15 + years.

For some of us that are not independently wealthy its a long game.

I was hoping that we would see something like this for our state. My wife and I just built our house last year, and included a dedicated home theater room. It's been a low priority to get it finished, so it's mostly just a storage and staging area for now.

Please count me in, as I'd like to see what others in our area are doing.

When Jeff Permanian at JTR does his open house(s), I think most of us should go and meet up. This would be a great place for us to all meet in person. Jeff is also thinking of putting together movie nights a few times a year. I for one hope he does as he has great products that a lot of us might have interest in.

That is high praise from "black hole" SOWK designs.

I like it too.

I do intend to start a build thread at some point, but need to pick a name, and also have an achievable schedule before starting one. Funny that you should mention inspiration, since when yours was featured as an HT of the Month, it matched the kind of minimalist ideal for what I wanted to do, and it help guide me in some of the decisions I've made.

Until I do start a build thread, I'll leave a small preview here. The room is roughly 17' x 26' x 10' although it's only 9' tall in the back half, due to the riser. Our house is ICF (Insulated Concrete Form), so all four walls are 6" think concrete with 2.5" of insulation and 1/2" drywall. The ceiling is 3/4" OSB and then 5/8" drywall. I did all of the low voltage wiring myself, and it's setup for 7.1.4.

The attached pictures are the general layout of the room, large black squares are the seven seats (Costco Pulaski recliners), and the smaller black squares are rough speaker placements which will be fine tuned to the room. The screen will be 135" 16:9. This is kind of going version .5, with an eventual plan to go with an acoustically transparent screen and 4K projector, but funds dictate that I reuse some old equipment for now.

Some family issues have halted all work for now, but I hope to get back to it sometime this year.

Scott

Scott
That is an incredible space.

Fantastic entry placement, ceiling height is perfect, width is near perfect. You have a ridiculously good start to that theater.

You already started the dark interior look as well. You are on your way to a killer system.

I'm interested in joining this group. I don't have a dedicated theater, just a "media room"... but I hope to build a nice theater in our next home and would love to learn from others experience. I'm in the Madison area.

A brief look at my current configuration:
Sony HW45ES with 100" 16x9 screen
Paradigm Studio 100 v5, CC-690 v5, Millenia ADP, and Studio Sub 12.
Anthem MRX510
Parasound Halo A51
Mac Mini with 14tb of media running Plex
Insteon Home Automation
Harmony Ultimate Remote
Palliser Elite Seating
SOWK and pennynike1 like this.
