Will "HDFury Integral 2" solve the HDCP 2.2 non compliance issue?

I should be receiving my Xgimi Lune 4K device this week (ordered via friend who lives in China), and want to make sure I can watch Netflix 4K + use PSP 4 with 4K and dolby vision etc.
Will adding a splitter like the new integral 2 solve the issue and will I get 4K or will I get downgraded to hdcp 1.4?
3DSammy and aleupas like this.

I think @schumy tried that. The HDfury will most likely work if the splitter doesn’t. Can’t wait to find out how well it performs and if there are any HDCP issues or solutions.

That advise was supposed to even include tension surfaced screens such as motorized. With that said YMMV, just like whether you can tolerate DLP rainbow effect or projector fan noise.

Please share as much as you can about this entry into the 4K UST space.

Your question goes to the heart of my concerns with this model. I simply can't see how XGIMI would not fully implement HDCP 2.2 on a 4K native projector. Unless HDCP copy protection is not used at all with the 4K Chinese domestic sources (Blu-ray and or streamed sources). Of course a inexpensive work around may tip the balance but it surely needs to work without a firmware upgrade killing the alternative.

I've clearly read that Netflix 4K UHD requires end to end HDMI 2.x and HDCP 2.2 support or the image gets downgraded. If the Lune 4K cannot support 4K UHD from North American streamed services at 4K HDR image quality then a purchase becomes a non-starter for me.

I agree, and I wasn't aware of the HDCP2.2 non compliance part prior ordering.
I will upload a comparison of the Wemax Vs lune 4k once it arrives.
I'm not sure if I should order the "integral 2" I'll test first, but form what I discussed with support of integral, i'll be able to get netflix working on 4k with it, just not sure if it will be 8bit or 12 bit..

Really excited for you! I'm very much looking forward to your comparison and general comments--this thing is difficult to order without such a friend in China...

I think the new XGIMI 4K Lune should get it's own thread or every post, going forward needs to explicitly ID which model their talking about. With the original model supporting 4K it's going to get very confusing.

Do you really want to make an add on purchase just to get HDCP 2.2 after you already sent a tidy sum? On Amazon Canada the retail price of the cheaper of the two solutions is ~$200 CDN. It would seem that licensing HDCP 2.2 would be easier especially as it seems the Xiaomi 1080p USTs have HDCP 2.2 built in or at least that's my understanding.
Does all Chinese domestic 4K sources (streaming and or Blu-Ray) not require HDCP 2.2 copy protection?

No I wouldn’t want to have to buy an HDfury, but it would still be cheaper to buy both than any of the other 4k UST projectors out there besides the U1. But the U1 might not be as good idk.

I saw the comment on Xgimi’s 4K webpage. I’m not sure if the rep that posted it was confused with both models also.
I agree that there should be a different thread, maybe @Osif Kris can start a “Xgimi Lune 4K (xj02p) owners” thread when he receives his.

关于LUNE HDR
http://bbs.xgimi.cn/forum.php?mod=vi...26typeid%3D268

This could be a concern as same chipset is apparently used in xj02p.

Yeah, I think it’s safe to say that it doesn’t support HDCP 2.2. Hopefully an HDfury will solve the problem. It sucks having to use a work around but at least it’s still significantly less expensive than the Dell or Hisense alternatives. Plus it has 3D and supposedly 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Can’t wait to see what Ofir Kris thinks of it when his arrives.

The post was about HDR issues.
The 4K also has a higher than normal .25 throw ratio. Strange.

Anyway, marketing war appears to be heating up. A couple of samples here for your reading pleasure:

Thanks for that. On the whole I just wait until real users, without agendas, describe their real life experiences and answer various questions from knowledgeable projector owners. Occasionally a professional independent reviewer adds their input but mainly HT users count the most in my mind. That's especially true when I can't just see the PJ's image at a local AV shop.

As an aside the Google translate results on those web pages can produce some hilarious counter intuitive text.

Hi! Greetings from Spain/China. Sorry in advance if my English is not very accurate, not my mother tongue. Thanks everybody in this thread, it has been very helpful to me since I am interested in buying the new LUNE 4K. Just to confirm what has been said before, so far this projector does not support the HDCP 2.2, please check the screenshot with the answer of the oficial WeChat customer service. The answer is, IMO very clear about that there is no support now but no so clear about if there will be a future upgrade, the conversation is a little bit longer but the answers are, as I said, vague.

Anyway this week I’ll meet a Chinese friend and I’ll preorder it for the Single’s Day deal that is very good here in China. I’ll post any new info or update.

Cheers!

You may like to wait for the announcement of the mysterious flagship <6k unit, rumoured to be released during the double 11 promotions.

Is this another Xgimi or a different brand? Rumor has it Optoma will announce their 4K Laser UST at CES in January.
